All bathroom styles - part 1

Freely experimenting with tiles, furnishings and colors to create stylish bathrooms is both a fascinating and complex task. In this roundup, we will discover how the combination of the different effects of porcelain stoneware and ceramic can give life to environments which are surely able to satisfy the most diverse tastes.

Country Chic

Wood-effect porcelain stoneware on the floor is a widespread and versatile choice, which can be the basis for various style solutions. If combined with a concrete effect on the wall, for example, we can add a touch of modernity to the rustic classicism of wood, turning towards country-chic atmospheres that support the choice of bathroom fixtures and even of extremely modern furnishings.

Stone-effect wall tiles are key to emphasize the more rustic and authentic aspects of this style. Slates, basalts, gypsum, quartzites and countless stones which can be reproduced with extreme verisimilitude on ceramic, are able to add that particular country element to your bathroom, thanks to its textured surfaces and its characteristic veins..

In addition, with a few furnishing touches, for example by selecting particular washbasins or taps, perhaps in matt black, you can easily switch to a rustrial style, while maintaining the same structure of floors and walls.

Nordic style

Going from the country to the Nordic style is all in all quite simple. Choosing wood-effect ceramics with delicate tones, with not too pronounced veins and knots to be installed also on the wall, immediately transports us to Scandinavia. In this case, the choice of bathroom fixtures and furnishings with neat lines, preferably white, and accessories that rely on a very soft color palette, with grey, blue and green tones, is a must.

Urban style

A distinctive element that has become fashionable in recent years is the use of faux bricks as a bathroom covering. The typical urban style effect that this type of cladding manages to recreate is mainly due to the stoneware bricks and the choice of using a very large joint, of about 1 cm, to effectively recover the unique New York loft atmosphere. The wide range of available colors allows you to opt for purely urban styles with the use of white and black, maybe combined with concrete-effect floors for a more original style, or with warm brick tones to match wood or stone-effect floors and to create warmer and more rural atmospheres.

Talking about bricks, we can also opt for solid color coverings if we prefer a more modern style, which is the one that enjoys wider possibilities with regards to bathroom furniture and sanitary fixtures. With full-height wall coverings, we can emphasize the color and allow the light to reflect on a larger surface, giving more brightness to the room. One of the advantages of this small format is that there are different finishes - glossy, matte, majolica, with a crackle effect- that can be adapted to multiple styles, proving to be an excellent choice even for those with a more classic taste.

Industrial

Another very popular style, which is not so widespread in bathrooms, is the Industrial style, that consists in the recovery of "industrial" elements and the consequent modification of their function. So basically, the choice is determined by the aesthetic features and not by their real usefulness. In this context, even in the bathroom it is possible to replicate the typical aspects of this style, especially with the characteristic chromatic range: black or rusty iron, dirty and oxidized metal, cracked ceramic and worn wood are widely used. The choice of opting for a metal-effect porcelain stoneware, which replicates oxidized floor and wall tiles, combined with wooden furniture, taps and profiles in black iron, as well as faux black bricks, allows you to create your oasis of well-being.

In the next episode we will analyze other bathroom styles and discover new unexpected uses of ceramics.
